Belonging Together

In the early days of InsightLA, we always practiced mindful sitting and walking meditation together. Our practice group was small and we all got to know each other and feel we belonged together. Now we’ve grown into a real organization; it’s clear that InsightLA’s community is born of the work of many hands. InsightLA belongs to many hearts, including yours.

It didn’t happen all at once. We went through an organic process of learning together — learning how to be responsible for ourselves and how to BE together. Any progress we’ve made is a result of all of us gathering to practice, teach, love and support others who seek a generous, fulfilling way to live.

Now our teacher group is growing, too. Our hope is that you can get to know our teachers and each other better — in the quietly friendly, bonding way that happens naturally when people can go to retreats. Our intention is to establish a model and precedent for simple, intimate practice together as a community of teachers, students, staff, friends, where everybody belongs.  In this spirit, you’re invited to our very first monthly gathering, beginning this Saturday, 8:30-11AM (Click here for the Community Sit).

Also, Monday June 1st, we’ll gather to practice and celebrate Vesak, the most important Buddhist festival commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha.
